Continuing his recent string of releases that explore the varied facets of his approach to sound, Asheville-based artist Interstitia’s “Owl Of Minerva” EP builds the intensity from his previous single, this time eschewing a stricter ambient approach in favor of a disorienting take on familiar components. The three songs are constructed of juxtaposed textural elements with each warped and echoed nearly beyond recognition, almost like a half-melted new age cassette tape found in the dumpster behind a crystal shop that’s then played on a boombox with dying batteries in a lightless cave or an alternate universe in which DJ Screw was really into Tangerine Dream.
